Text to PDF

Typeset a plain text file onto A4 pages as a real PDF, with automatic line wrapping and page breaks. Because the conversion runs in your browser rather than on a server, your file is never uploaded, never stored and never seen by anyone else.

Drop your file to start.

The converter needs JavaScript, because the conversion itself runs on your own device rather than on a server. Enable JavaScript to load it.

Proper text, not a picture of text

The content is drawn as genuine PDF text in 11 pt Helvetica, so it stays selectable, searchable and accessible to screen readers. Lines wrap to the page width and new pages are added automatically as needed.

Also works from Markdown and HTML

Markdown and HTML files can be exported to PDF too. They are rendered first and then typeset as plain text, which is the practical route for notes, logs and README files.

Frequently asked questions

Is the text in the PDF selectable?

Yes. It is drawn as real text rather than an image, so it can be selected, searched and read by assistive technology.

What page size and font are used?

A4 pages with 48 pt margins, set in 11 pt Helvetica. Pages are added automatically for longer documents.

Can I convert Markdown or HTML to PDF?

Yes. Both are rendered first, then typeset as plain text on A4 pages.

Is there a length limit?

No fixed limit. Long documents simply take a moment longer to typeset.
